Children of Avalon
Ha’saïr Fortress is a small city centered on a forbidding and extremely well armed castle constructed by Duke Ha’saïr in 576 A.D. as the seat of government for the Gran Duchy of Evermorn. The city is renowned for its warriors, who are trained in the skilled use of sword and shield from the time they are old enough to carry a blade.
Such a military community is, unsurprisingly, highly structured with a rigid, feudal caste system. Though both men and women are trained as warriors, the training that women receive never progresses beyond basic fighting techniques. Women are prevented from being officers, owning horses or land, or publicly expressing themselves. Likewise, the lower castes of society—artisans, farmers, and clerics, for example—are denied any say in the politics of the town or the Duchy as a whole. Governing is left to the five Great Houses who own the majority of land in the Duchy and possess the entirety of the wealth. Members of non-human races do not face discrimination any greater than that of their human counterparts, but they are expected to abide by the strict laws of the nation or be silenced, this also applies to travelers and adventurers passing through the city.
Evermorn is a highly belligerent nation, devoted to spreading their notion of impartial lawfulness based on strict order.
